Sobre o poder / About the power

Abstract

Este artigo tem como foco intencional apresentar as compreensões contemporâneas de poder, baseadas nas análises de dois autores do Século XX, Hannah Arendt e Michel Foucault, que estiveram atentos às questões da sociedade. Trata-se de demarcar entendimentos diferenciados, a partir dos solos conceituais em que se sustentam as pesquisas dos pensadores. Enquanto, para Arendt, o poder tem uma apreciação positiva em si mesmo, ainda que possa sofrer destruições quando surge a violência, como resultado das ações dos sujeitos, e, portanto, o destrói, Foucault parte de uma perspectiva de poder em que o papel do indivíduo é quase inexistente, na medida em que o poder, não estando situado em lugar algum e funcionando como uma espécie de ligamento entre indivíduos e instituições, não traz em si mesmo a conotação de positividade ou negatividade, mas de funcionamento.

Abstract

This article intends to present some contemporary understandings of power, based on the analysis of two authors of the twentieth century, Hannah Arendt and Michel Foucault , who were focused on important issues of society. It points different understandings, from the conceptual basis that support the research of those philosophers. While for Arendt , power has a positive assessment in itself , although it may suffer destruction when there is violence as a result of the actions of individuals, and thus destroys, Foucault thinks from a power perspective, which the role of the individual is almost nonexistent; power has not being situated anywhere and functioning as a kind of connection between individuals and institutions. Power does not provide, itself,  neither a positive nor a negative connotation, but operation.
