Abstract

The article aims to understand the process of implementing an Integrated Management System (SGI) and propose a set of practices for integrating management systems in construction companies. A case study composed of five stages was conducted in a company with a GIS implanted. Based on the case study, a set of practices was developed to implement integrated management systems in construction companies. As a result, the set of practices is divided into four stages: (1) definition of requirements; (2) structuring the management system; (3) design of the management system and; (4) Implementation, which discusses the main tasks involved in the integration of management systems, including safety and health procedures in the workplace. The practice set was validated in the case study company and was considered valuable, consistent, and easy to apply.
