Perspectives on sustainable practices applied to projects and building in Maceió - AL
Abstract
Urban growth has had a significant impact on the environment, causing growing concern about less aggressive practices. Sustainable building practices that minimize the environmental impact on projects and works are key to achieving the UN’s proposed sustainable development goals. Thus, the aim of this paper is to analyze, from the point of view of sustainable criteria, the university contribution and the internalization of the sustainable theme in projects and works between architects and civil engineers. In view of this, sustainable indicators based on risk management standards and opportunities for civil engineering projects were researched. Then, an empirical research was conducted with architects, construction engineers and students of architecture and civil engineering of the 06 largest universities in Maceió. The online questionnaires addressed 56 civil engineers, 52 architects, 96 architectural students and 73 civil engineering students across 30 questions. It is concluded that the consumer market of real estate products in Maceió / AL is not yet receptive to sustainable bias, as well as professionals in the construction sector are not properly structured to apply sustainable criteria in their projects and works. Although there has been an improvement in environmental education in recent years, universities in Maceió are, according to this exploratory study forming at least 30% of their students with little or no information in adopting sustainable criteria in projects and works.
