Evaluation of changes in land use in the city of Passo Fundo/ RS between 1989 and 2011 with use of TM-5 Landsat images

Abstract

The search is based on the diagnosis of changes in the characteristics of land use in the city of Passo Fundo (RS). In general lines, it aims to evaluate changes between 1989 and 2011, using satellite images from Landsat TM-5. The images were classified by supervised and unsupervised method, generating thematic maps with the following classes: agriculture and ranching, forest, exposed soil and water. The results have showed that the forest possesses an area of 10.628,4 ha (14.9% from total) and the class “water” possesses an area of 203,6 ha (0,4%).
