Abstract

The present study seeks to understand, mainly, the geometry of the Cine Teatro Luz ceiling interference, located in the city of União da Vitória in Paraná, has on acoustic quality, considering this unusual geometry in aspects related to sound distribution, due to the positioning of your curvature. Cine Teatro Luz is a state-listed heritage building and is undergoing restoration. The aim of this paper is to clarify the influence that the original ceiling has on the acoustic quality of the Cine Teatro Luz room, using the acoustic parameters TR, EDT, D50, C80 and STI, in which the results of these parameters are compared to the results of a modeling with a ceiling proposal that provides more conventional sound distribution. The method consisted of using room information in computer modeling, with two ceiling situations: the first with the original ceiling, with longitudinal curves to the room, and the second modeling, called the proposed ceiling with transverse curves to the room. Both models were simulated in the acoustic software CATT-acoustic v9.1b - demo version, with input data of absorption coefficients (α) and scattering coefficients (s), as well as input data for sound source and receiver position. During the comparative analysis between the modeling results, the influence of each liner on the results was observed. It can be concluded that the results presented in the modeling with the proposed ceiling contributed to improve the acoustic quality of the room, considering that the room is intended for multipurpose. However, the results showed that the geometry of the original ceiling can benefit music activities.
