Analysis of the semi-rigid beam-column connections in monolithic structures of reinforced concrete

Abstract

On this study the influences of the reduction in the rigidity of the beam-clumn connections was evaluated as a choice of design in monolithic structures of reinforced concrete. The research has a quantitative character through the case study of a 7 floors residential building using Eberick software. The design started with a rigid connections structure (denominated “model structure”), after that, the rigidity between beam-column connections was reduced (5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%) keeping the same characteristics (the structural design, loads and elements dimensions) of the model structure. Based on the obtained results is possible to conclude that that the rigidity between connections influences directly on a structure performance and is an alternative to be used judiciously in structural projects.
